Position Overview:
The Assistant Resident Engineer will support the Resident Engineer in overseeing construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This role involves on-site supervision, coordination with contractors, and meticulous documentation to facilitate successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring construction activities to ensure adherence to contract drawings, specifications and standards.
- Conduct site inspections, document progress, and report any deviations or issues to the Resident Engineer.
- Supervise and coordinate multiple inspectors to ensure construction activities are monitored and documented.
- Coordinate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of daily construction activities, including labor reports and inspection reports.
- Ensure all construction work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in progress meetings and assist in resolving any on-site issues or conflicts.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, audits, and closeout procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision or a related role.
- Familiarity with IDOT and Tollway construction management practices, including documentation, inspection, and compliance procedures.
- IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in using construction management software and tools such as IDOT CMMS and Tollway E-builder
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various project sites as required.
